Once a request has been approved, you can quickly turn it into a project. This helps ensure continuity between requests and project execution while reducing manual setup.

Create a Project from a Request

Follow these steps to create a project from an approved request:

  1. In Cognota, navigate to Requests.

  2. Select an Approved request.

  3. Use one of the following options to create the project:

    • Click Create Project in the approval banner, or

    • Open the More Actions menu and select Create Project.

  4. The Create Project modal will appear.

  5. Review and complete the project details.

  6. Select Create & Open to open the project immediately, or Create Project to return later.

Pre-Filled Project Fields

When creating a project from a request, the following fields are automatically populated:

  • Description — copied from the request

  • Business Unit — copied from the request

  • Priority — copied from the request, or set to Medium if no priority was previously assigned

  • Project Privacy — automatically set to Private

Complete the Remaining Project Details

You’ll also be prompted to complete the following fields:

  • Project Template
Select a predefined template to base your project structure on.

  • Project Name
Defines how the project appears in your project lists and boards.

  • Project Owners
Users who can edit the main project details and will see the project in their boards and lists.

  • Start Date & Target Completion Date
The planned start and end dates for the project.

  • Process Used
Determines which Process Board the project appears on and the stages it will move through.

  • Project Category
Helps organize projects based on industry standards.

  • Task Bundle
Allows you to add a predefined set of tasks to the project.

Automatically Links Requests

Once the project is created, the original request is automatically linked at the bottom of the Project view, making it easy to reference request details throughout the project lifecycle.
